Not playing nice with the OS is not something you want from security software. Any AV that doesn't report correctly is not something that you want on the system anyway - either incredibly unprofessional or a fake AV product. For example, someone I know installed this on 4 computers that all had McAfee on them already & it was killing their computers - so unless they have vastly improved their method of determining AV, this is a fear.ĪV has an official reporting mechanism through the OS. I have never seen their logic of determining if there is already AV installed, so that is why I am concerned. My guess would be they are trying to push this out there as a "Its better than nothing, so take this" approach. If you read the article it won't appear on a PC that has an Anti-virus solution installed.
